Sustainable Materials - Teak Wood

Sustainable Materials - Teak Wood
At Sacred Bundle we love the individual finish of our Teak pieces. The variations in tone and grain make each piece of furniture unique. Although our love for teak goes beyond it's beautiful finish, we value sustainability here at Sacred Bundle, and reflect that through our designs and material choices. The selection of Teak wood for our nursery furniture has been considered for its longevity and individual, yet refined finish.

Where does it come from

Teak is a tropical hard wood species that is native to Southern Asia and South East Asia. The trees are grown for a minimum of 60 years before they are harvested and used in manufacturing. To cope with increasing global demand, teak trees are grown on dedicated estates operated and controlled by local government authorities to ensure the sustainability and protection of this resource.

How is it crafted
The logs are kiln dried for 2-3 weeks. Our Teak wood nursery furniture is hand crafted by our artisans. Teak is extremely durable & easy to work with.

Details on the quality and strength of the wood
Teak has a high tensile strength and smooth tight grain. It is highly popular in the ship building industry and furniture manufacturing due to its durability and rot resistance.

Key features of this wood
Teak is well known for being low maintenance, weather resistant and its beautiful, smooth finish.

Why choose Teak & the environmental impact
Teak grows without the use of artificial fertilisers and heavy irrigation, making it an eco-conscious choice. There is environmental consideration for teak production with excess able to be returned to earth or recycled. Teak furniture’s durability and longevity allows for a lifetime of use and therefore, not contributing to over consumption.
