Mama Muse - Hayley Berlingeri

Mama Muse - Hayley Berlingeri

Tell us about yourself…

I’m Hayley, Mama of four divinely beautiful yet chaotically crazy little kids. I live with my beloved hubby, near the sea in little old Adelaide. And we adore the slow life here.

Being a Mother is...?

Like being home. It’s the hardest, happiest role on earth, but it’s exactly where I’m meant to be, and because of it, my soul is still (yet my mind is in tatters hahaha!!)

What is the most important piece of advice you'll share with your children?

You have been divinely created. You already have everything within you that you could ever need. And because of this, you are enough.

How do you practice self care being a Mother?

Oh my goodness, self care?! What is that?!? To be honest, with a new baby and three others to tend to, I’m struggling to find time for me at the moment. But I know it’s just for this short season. I do have a lot of beautiful people in my life who are always happy to help out. My favourite ‘self care’ thing to do is to grab my girlfriends and head out to dinner, so I prioritise this whenever I can.

Have you carried on any family traditions from your own childhood to your child/children?

My Great Grandmother would sing a Maori love song to my Granny as a baby, and in turn my Granny sang that same song to my Mum, and my Mum to me and my Sister. So I’ve continued that with my babes, too. Every night when I put them to bed we sing it together and it makes me homesick for my own cosy childhood bed and my Mum’s sweet singing that helped me drift off to sleep.

What surprised you most about being a Mother?

I was utterly shocked with how hard it was, but that this pure, consuming love covers all. I really struggled in the beginning with my firstborn. The all encompassing change of life was such a huge shock to me. My Mum and friends had told me tales of motherhood, but nothing can really prepare you. You can’t actually really grasp it all until you’re  in it yourself. But with that shock comes a new love that you’ve never known before. It’s unwavering. It’s unconditional. It’s pure. It’s eternal.

What pieces are on your Sacred Bundle wishlist?

Well, I’ve just got my dream pieces!!! The Zali Cot has arrived and I’m obsessed with its beautifully soft arches and warm teak tone. And it's partner in crime, the Zali Buffet! They’re a match made in baby nursery heaven!!
